Playstation Home, Open Beta Preview

After a long wait and many delays, Playstation Home has entered Open Beta. Now 1 step closer to an official launch. So let’s get down to it!

The moment you launch Playstation Home you are directed to an interface for creating your virtual self. There are numerous options and sliders for height, weight, build, facial features, hair style, hair color, eye color, skin tone, etc. It’s fairly easy to create a pretty spot on representation of yourself even from the get go. While options such as clothing, accessories, and jewelry are somewhat limited at first, you can customize your body and facial features to a great extent. Hair styles are also a little limited but here’s to hoping that is temporary. I know you can purchase new clothing and accessories in-game as well as earn them, so I would imagine you may also be able to get your hair cut and styled as well.

Don’t worry if you aren’t satisfied with your avatar once you are in the world, you can customize yourself and change anything you aren’t happy with at any time. This way as you upgrade your wardrobe you can update your look.

Next is your house. Playstation Home wouldn’t be complete if it didn’t make you feel at home. You don’t start out in a shoddy shack in the middle of no-man’s land. You get a spacious single room apartment with a balcony overlooking the sea. It’s even been furnished for you with some basics: sofas, chairs, automans, coffee tables, dining tables, lamps, kitchen chairs, cabinets. All of which you can move around to suit your desires and later replace with newly bought/awarded items. You can also select from several various wall papers to spruce up the place. SWTOR: Video Coming Soon

Good news Star Wars fans! BioWare & LucasArts announced earlier today that they will soon be releasing video footage of their new joint effort, Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic™. How soon is soon? Tomorrow December 12th. This will be the first opportunity fans get to have a glimpse of in-game footage for the highly anticipated title. The video will be made publically available on the game’s official site.

New SWTOR Screenshots!

Bioware has released a new collection of screenshots for their much hyped MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic.   The quality in these screen shots look great and the much criticized lightsaber hilt sizes have been reduced.  All we need now is some gameplay footage to satisfy our cravings till this MMO is released.

New Chrono Trigger DS Ending!

According to the recent issue of Famitsu, Square Enix mentioned a new ending to the much beloved RPG Chrono Trigger.  Details of the new ending are limited to a screen shot which shows Frog, Crono, and Marle looking into a time warp.  I had already made plans to purchase the game for the DS to see the new dungeon, but this new bit of information just sent the geek meter to critical mass.  Perhaps this new ending might elude to a third Chrono game?

We will all find out when the game hits stores on November 24th!

The Race Is Over

“I will never forget who this victory truly belongs to — it belongs to you.” -Barack Obama

“It is natural tonight to feel some disappointment, but tomorrow we must move beyond it and work together to get our country moving again. We fought — we fought as hard as we could. And though we fell short, the failure is mine, not yours.” -John McCain

This morning The United States of America has a new president-elect. After a long and arduous presidential race Barack Obama was elected president, winning both the popular vote (52%:47%) and the electoral vote (349:162). Whether you voted Obama or McCain (or even a less prominent name), I want to congratulate and thank you for voting. Having a voice is important. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Watching Mirror’s

Throughout all the time I’ve ever spent watching trailers for video games, there has never been such a moment where I have though to myself “Wow, that should totally be a show.” at least, until now.

Take one of the greatest soundtracks I’ve heard in a long time, beautiful high action visuals and add the art of Parkour - and you’ve got, Mirror’s Edge.

Get the Flash Player to see this player.

Although the above video is not what the game actually looks like, I’m sure there are those out there who would agree with me that there should definitely be an anime counterpart to the game that utilizes the beautiful cell-shaded art style of the trailer. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Dead Space, Actually Quite Lively.

After finally completing this game, I can quickly sum up my thoughts in a single sentence; Dead Space has to have had one of the best stories I’ve ever played through in a survival horror shooter - seriously. Production value for the game is top-notch, I’m really proud of EA on this one. The dialogue and voice-acting is incredibly believable, doing an awesome job of immersing you into a very gruesome situation that always leaves you with that “oh f*ck me…” feeling. New Final Fantasy XIII Scans!

Quality isn’t the best, but at least we are starting to see some new shots of the game.

Lucas Arts BioWare Love Child Revealed

It’s an MMORPG!

Well, it’s been finally confirmed that the joint effort between Lucas Arts and BioWare will in fact not only be an MMORPG — but a Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic MMORPG.

As rumors swirled for the last year or so, there has been a constant debate amongst Star Wars enthusiasts as to whether or not a new Star Wars MMORPG could be in the works. With the slow demise of it’s predecessor Star Wars: Galaxies, it seemed only natural a new MMO would soon be coming.

But when would this game take place? Prior to Episode 1? After Episode 6? Nobody knew for sure. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Bioware/Lucas Arts Announcement *Update*

Gamasutra today posted an interesting article pertaining to the rumored announcement about the Bioware/Lucas Arts game.  Rumors began to swirl last week when a UK site published that Knights of the Old Republic Online or KOTORO would be officially unveiled later this month.  Well the anticipation has just reached ludacris speed with an October 21st announcement date linked to the joint project between the two gaming companies.

Gamasutra: The postcard, which proclaims “The wait is over” and promises “the official unveiling of the game that’s been rumored about for years,” makes no explicit reference to Star Wars. It is branded with the LucasArts and BioWare logos and depicts floating robots and hooded figures in futuristic interior locations reminiscent of the sci-fi franchise.

Many speculate that this will in fact be the KOTOR MMO that everyone has been clamering for.  MMO and Star Wars fans got their first taste of semi official confirmation of KOTORO from the CEO of Electronic Arts during an interview at E3 this year.  If it is infact Knights of the Old Republic Online consider me excited and hopefully this will make me forget about the mishandling of Star Wars Galaxies.  All we can do now though is wait…

Here is a scan of the post card.  I don’t know about you all, but this looks like Star Wars to me.
